ranDUMBart 12/22/21

With ranDUMBart I wanted to play with the idea of analog generative Pop art. I also wanted to take a complete 180 turn from my Mori project. I don't have the skills or the smarts for true generative art, hence—DUMB. I love typography, bright colors, gritty textures, and fun imagery all the aspects of Pop art. As such, I made that the visual dictionary.

I've chosen to use a pair of dice as a random number generator to give me the output values for each of the 9 design element categories. I've attached a YouTube video in each NFT's description which links to the 'Proof of Work' rolls I made for that specific number. You can watch me roll the output values which make each ranDUMBart piece unique. I was bound to those values and then tasked myself with building each in Photoshop.

I wanted making these to be an exciting process while challenging my design skills to have specific elements which I must adhere to, all while making it look visually appealing and light-hearted.

There are 51 pieces in the ranDUMBart project. Each individual design is crafted in Photoshop at 18"x24" 200dpi. I created a library of bird and food images that were scanned from old advertisment books going back to the 1930's-1970s for some of my resources. All the other textures and shapes were pulled from stock photography websites or created in Adobe Illustrator.

I currently have no plans to print ranDUMBart's, however I can supply the NFT owner the full-res high quality .JPG to print. Feel free to contact me with any questions or requests.

I’m committed to giving 5% of initial sales to The National Blood Clot Alliance charity which is dedicated to advancing the prevention, early diagnosis and successful treatment of life-threatening blood clots such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and clot-provoked stroke. A cause that affects loved ones in my family. dedicated to advancing the prevention, early diagnosis and successful treatment of life-threatening blood clots such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and clot-provoked stroke.
